Greetings all,
I have a puzzlement. A couple months back, after 7500 miles on these tires, I was finally able to take the time to rotate the wheels on Beast (51 FFPW). At the same time I installed balancing beads in the former front and spare tires (the rears had beads installed when new), and I increased pressure on all tires to the recommended 50 psi. When I got it back out on the road I found a vibration at high speed (50 - 60 mph). The vibration was transmitted up to the steering wheel which would rotationally oscillate at an estimated 10 - 20 Hz (wheel rotation at 60 mph is 9.6 Hz). The weird part was that the vibration was intermittent; it would disappear for say, half a minute, and then reappear for a bit only to disappear again. After another 300 or so miles the vibration stopped rather suddenly; it was there on a trip to town and almost gone on the way back. Subsequent driving showed the vibration decreasing to the point where any steering wheel vibration cant be distinguished from just road roughness. Now Beast drives as well as before the tire rotation (except for the stiffness from increased tire pressure).
The question I have is; what was causing the vibration? Has anyone had this experience?
