Greg, I thought I had the front tires at 45 psi and the rear tires at 40 psi for most of the first 7500 miles. When I went to put the balancing beads in the other 3 tires I found that the pressure all around was 40 psi, and you are right the ride was quite nice. However, there was substantial wear on the outer lugs while the inner were worn very little, I believed this difference in wear was caused by low pressure so I increased to 50 psi which is the manufacturers pressure for maximum load. Since then I have looked at suggested tire pressure in TM 9-810 (40 psi for 9.00 x 16in. 8-ply), the B-3 series shop manual (45 psi for 9.00 x 16 with 8 plies) and the manufacturer (50 psi, though this is for about twice the load per tire that I have on Beast). I'm seriously considering dropping the pressure back down to 45 psi to get the better ride back and (hopefully) still have decent wear.
