1960 Dodge W300 variable speed windshield wipers

The wipers on my W300 Power Giant stopped working. I'm not sure if its the cold, the wiper motor, or the variable speed wiper switch (P/N 1799479).

Is there any harm in trying to bypass the switch, and try the motor directly from a hot lead? There is a 6A breaker between the hot lead and the switch.

The switch seems to be working, when I test with a multimeter.

I can't tell from the wiring diagram, which wires control the ON, variable speed, or park functions of the motor. If you do, could you please let me know?
