Metal found in transmission fluid change

I acquired my 1955 Power Wagon this past summer so I'm a newby. After changing the transmission fluid I found this piece of metal in the old fluid. Can anyone help me identify whats broken and how serious the break is. Looks ominous to me. Thanks
