I've been using the same electric pump since 1995, so far so good. The advantage over mechanical is; you don't have to worry about the fuel effecting the diaphragm, or the arm pin working out and it can be set it up to prime the carb before starting which is nice when the truck sets for a long period, makes starting a whole lot easier. Like any other part, don't buy a cheap one.
