Well, I went ahead and bought it, and tlnew copies of the service manuals and parts books. I've got it up on jack stands going through the brakes. So far, the brakes themselves look fine. HOWEVER, the stud holes for the axle flanges on both hubs are pretty beat up. Looks like someone was drag racing it and the axle drive stud holes in the hubs are wallowed and ovaled. So I probably need new ones. For all the rear axle data on the door tag it says "SPECIAL". At the bottom in the special equipment, it says SERT NO. 06415, RR AXLE R. I'm confused, because I thought the Rockwell was the standard axle, so why would it be special? The axle housing itself has no tags or any markings at all. Center section matches the visual description of an H141 and has 6.80 stamped on it (axle ratio, I assume). The only thing non standard I can see is that it has single rear wheels. The wheels themselves don't have the correct offset to be duallys and the wheel studs are not long enough for duals. Could that be it? For what it's worth, it also has SERT NO. 24737, WHEELS 20. So maybe non-standard wheels to go along with the single rear wheel hubs?
