Jerry, Nathan …. Jerry I wish I was younger and didn’t have so many older vehicles already. I enjoyed our conversations about a purchase early spring 2026. It’s a great power wagon work truck. Something to be said for that. To both of you … There is a service I recently used called POMCAR at POMCAR.com. Everything is explained on their website.
It is nationwide and they have ASE certified mechanics that will go out and inspect a vehicle for you. Provide you whatever you want. You can ask for specific things to be looked at and a detailed report is provided. Many photos taken and recommendations related to Tire wear depth, brake pad depth noted, and anything else you ask. Many things you don’t ask as part of their normal inspection. Many detailed photos of what you want specifically looked at including Chassis drivetrain body, etc. they’ll look at the fluids see if they’re clean see if they’re up to snuff and anything else you want. They will drive the vehicle and give an honest opinion about its response and any issues. The service cost $195 but it is well worth it. I used it recently to purchase a Nissan NV 1500 2018 van. I actually spent $195 twice because the one I thought was going to be the good one was 775 miles away from me near Dallas. The photos from the dealer looked really good and the mileage was low. It was a 2017 model. I hired POMCAR and within the day, they went out there, and they gave me a full report. Well, although the dealer, I can’t say was dishonest, the meat and potatoes of close photographs showed much more small body damage than I was happy with. Although the vehicle ran well, I did not go through with that purchase. So I found another one 310 miles away, a 2018 up in Georgia. I use the same process. This one turned out to be a gem, pretty low miles and the body was super straight. Mechanically, it was also up to snuff with no issues .That gave me the comfort to take the time to drive up there and look at it myself and drive it and then work a deal. I understand that Nathan is not in the position to do that, but using POMCAR might give him some extra comfort. As everyone has said we all know JERRY and we know that he’s an honest man. I would not hesitate to take him for his word and I would not be concerned about sending him the money via wire transfer assuming that I was comfortable with the vehicle condition for the price. I can say that POMCAR worked well for me twice. In my case, they also looked at the OBD codes. I know we’re talking about a Power Wagon, a different beast, but still an ASE certified mechanic should be able to hear and feel how well any Truck is condition wise, even if it is a power wagon. I’ve done Remote Sales both receiving and sending even to Europe selling a WC into England and a World War II Willys MB into the Czech Republic. Both these purchasers trusted me, sent me the money first, and when I was absolutely sure it was in my account and then provided them that needed paperwork and they made arrangement to ship the vehicles. I kept my word and both vehicles made it to Europe with no issues. I’ve also sent money for vehicles remotely, and when the cashiers checked cleared for the honest seller on the other end, I made arrangements for shipping the vehicle to me. Never had a problem, but I do understand both sides of this coin.
