I just used some modern pressed cardboard similar to what the headliner is made out of for mine.
I find that the "Soft-Firm" feature is really useless. When I first sit on the seat, it MAY feel a little firmer, but within a few seconds all that cushy air has escaped anyway.
The seat cover does not really seal well to the frame, so air is going to exit one way or another.
