The trim pieces should be on top of the flat mounting portion of the door weatherstrip and butt up to the round portion of the seal. I.E the trim overs the mounting surface of the weatherstrip. The weather strip is mounted first and is attached with the tiny brads that Dodge used. I punched holes in the mounting portion of the weather strip that lined up with the holes in the door jam where the screws go that mount the metal trim piece that holds the pillar trim pieces in place. It makes it much easier to find the mounting holes for the trim.
