For whatever reason, some WDX-WM300 model Power-Wagons used the smaller battery. This required them to tack weld the additional hold-down bracket in the base of the tray.
My two trucks do not have the additional bracket so I use the larger batteries.
The top hold down "cover", I guess it is called, fits the larger batteries - at least the latest one I bought from VPW does. I do not know where to find the smaller battery "cover".
You can break loose, or drill out, the spot welds in the tray if you want the larger battery.
As an added note, I am talking 6-volt batteries here. I have no idea what other do when they switch to 12-volt.
