I have always set the timing on both of my trucks at top dead center even though the owner's manual and the shop manual both say two degrees after top dead center. This is with the ET4 as well as E7F1 carb and both on the 230 engine. The CARbureTER sheets for those two carbs also agree with the two degrees ATDC. I figure even with more ethanol now than we had in 1947, the gasoline is still better today. I have had no problems with spark knock.
