Hi Dave.
We used to have German Shorthaired Pointers back when the area was less populated. We had one who used to wander freely. We never dreaed he went so far away, but we learned he went into town, about 3 1/2 miles away and hung out on the beach. Not saying it was right, but he got away with it until we had to put him to sleep at 15. Labs generally stick around home better thah shorrthairs. And, we now have a big fenced yard.
