It's definitely fixable. It just time vs money. But if you fix it yourself you will have a new skill, and a piece to be proud of. I say go for it.
Look into getting a shrinking disc. It goes on a 5" hand grinder and you can shrink the metal where needed. They are amazing. Hammering the metal stretches is, so sometimes you need to be able to shrink it back. You can also use them to stretch metal very gently. Great for curved areas like the fenders.
Also get a copy of the little book "Metal Bumping" by Frank Sargent. Read it 2 or 3 times and then get to work. The more you do, the more the book will make sense. Youtube also has a ton of good videos on the subject.
