The pertronix system allows you to use the original distributor,rotor and cap. It replaces the plate that holds the points and condenser, but the plate depends on the distributor number. I believe there may other electronic points conversions other than pertronix,but I am not familiar with them. I have used pertronix system in willys jeeps for 45 years
