Could be the oil or the filter.
Could be the gage, the sending unit or you could have blocked passages.
We use 5w20 in them up here, Ed. Not sure what you use down there, but don't use heavy oil. They (5.7L) don't like heavy oil.
Don't drive it until you get it figured out, though..
