I have done this on the hydraulic bellhousing 60s set up. If I had to do it again I would just adapt an NV4500 or a getrag 360. the ratios in the 540 OD are not great. 3rd is way too low. hug gap from 3rd to 4th. really effects towing and driving with a load in a big way. the NV and the G dont have that same spread. Also, some of the rebuild parts for the 540 are very difficult to find
