This is the instruction for a WC ¾ ton maintenance manual which is good for the PW. Length of the wrench is important and once you get the truck on the road, actuate the springs off-road and look for any spring binding at the bolts and shackles, springs should relax at their normal position on level ground, no arching at those points.

e. Installation of Front Spring (fig. 96).

- Place the spring in position and insert the spring rear bolt through the bracket and spring eye from the inside of the bracket.

- Install the slotted nut and tighten it
tight, then back it off one slot and install the cotter pin.

- Install the shackle bolt from the inside through the shackle and spring eye. Tighten nut tight, using a 12-inch wrench, then back it off one slot and install the cotter pin.

- Lubricate the spring bolts. Install the spring clips and remove the jack from under the truck. Then tighten the spring clip nut securely.
