A few more thoughts that may help you in wiring your truck.
On my old iron, I use a 40 amp multi function relay. This relay is wired to control ALL electrical functions EXCEPT running lights, 4 way flashers, brake lights and horn and headlights. These are wired to always be available without key on or engine running. This is the way new vehicles are wired. Turn off the key and everything except the above mentioned is DEAD. I use NAPA Multi Function Relay part number SR-3.
I also use NAPA 10 circuit fuse block which uses ATC Blade type fuses. This brings all your electrical fuse protection to one neat block NAPA part number 782-3712
I can not find my notes that have the NAPA 10 amp relays I use for the headlights. They are first cheap and easy to use.
