I believe the general rule is 10psi per 1,000rpm. If the engine is idling at 500rpm, you may be about 5psi. How sensitive are your gauges?

If you're not hearing valve train or cam bearing screech, or rod knock noise, the engine is generating oil pressure. If the pickup screen was too small, assuming it wasn't picking up enough oil, you would see surging in the mechanical gauge, and the engine wouldn't be generating good oil pressure at 2,000rpm.

If the engine had an oil pressure issue at idle, you would definitely hear it - screeeeeeeeeech - seized!
