I like that suggestion of Kerosene but I wouldn't run it for long, you need to avoid removing varnish in the good places.
I bought a Truck +/- 10 years ago, had problems getting it started, it was Hydro-locking. But didn't understand that till I hooked it to the tractor for a pull start and it slung oil out the fill spout.
It smelled like stale gas. I drained 3.5 gallons of black oil with viscosity of diesel but smelled like gas. Tore down the carb and found out it was missing the needle in the carb allowing raw gas to be pumped as fast as the fuel pump could pump into the carb and cylinders, as cylinder filled with gas it would hydro-lock, then that gas would pass into crank case as I was scratching my butt. New needle and problems solved, and pan was washed, good to go.
